ABDULLAHI JCA (Delivering the Lead Judgment): This is an appeal against the decision of the Federal High Court, Ilorin delivered by Olayiwola on 22/07/2004 in which the claims of the plaintiffs to wit:-

i. The plaintiffs’ claim against the defendant is that the act of the defendant in stopping, disrupting, intimidating and harassing the plaintiffs and members of their association from holding a scheduled meeting at Ilorin, Kwara State on the 15th of November, 2002 is unlawful and unconstitutional as it violated the plaintiffs’ right to freedom of association and freedom of movement as guaranteed by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

ii. The plaintiffs’ claim from the defendant, the sum of two million naira (₦2,000,000.00) only as special and general damages from the defendant for the violation of their constitutionally guaranteed rights, humiliation, embarrassment and the damages suffered by the plaintiffs as a result of the unconstitutional act of the defendant.
