MBABA JCA (Delivering the Lead Judgment): Appellants were plaintiffs at the court below, where they sought an order of the Adamawa State High Court to declare that the 1st plaintiff was duly selected as the sole candidate for the position of Chief (village head) of Lakoro and thus entitled to be so installed by the 4th defendant.β They also sought a declaration that the 1st defendant was not eligible for the position of Chief (village head) of Lakoro and thus his presentation as a candidate for the position to the 4th defendant by the 2nd and 3rd defendants was illegal, unlawful, null and void. They further sought an order of injunction restraining the 4th defendant from installing the 1st defendant as Chief (village head) of Lakoro, and an order directing the 4th defendant to, forthwith, install the 1st plaintiff as Chief of Lakoro.
