MOORE ASEIMO ABRAHAM ADUMEIN, J.C.A. (Delivering the Leading Judgment): By an action instituted in the Federal High Court, holden at Asaba Judicial Division, Asaba, Delta State, the respondent (then claimant) sought the following reliefs against the appellant, who was the defendant to the suit:

1. GBP20,000,000 (Twenty Million Pounds Sterling) or its Naira equivalent as general damages for misinformation and misrepresentation to third parties and authorities in the United Kingdom leading to the loss of assets belonging to the claimant and its subsidiaries.

In the alternative

2. GBP20,000,000 (Twenty Million Pound Sterling) or its equivalent as general damages for breach of the defendants fiduciary duties as a Director of the claimant.

3. Solicitors fees and costs of this action at N25,000,000.00 (Twenty Five Million Naira Only.
