Judgement

ESSIEN J (DELIVERING THE JUDGMENT): The claimant commenced this action by complaint dated and filed on the 5/4/2016. In the complaint the claimant claimed the following reliefs from the court.

1) A declaration that the termination of the claimant’s employment with the 1st defendant on the 19th day of October 2015, following an inconclusive investigation of an alleged criminal misconduct and without any requisite notice is wrongful and unlawful.

2) An order of this honourable court compelling the defendants to pay the sum of ₦360,000 (Three Hundred and Sixty Thousand Naira only being the salary in lieu of three months notice which the claimant is entitled to as a senior staff of the 1st defendant, and a written letter of apology addressed to the claimant for the wrongful termination of his employment.

3) An award of general damages in the sum of ₦10,000,000 (Ten Million Naira) for the unlawful termination of the claimant’s employment by the defendants on the 19th day of October, 2015.
