Judgement

DAUDU, SAN (Delivering the Direction of the Committee): The facts of this complaint lie within a very narrow compass. It is appropriate to start with the complaint dated the 27th of February 2013 filed by the NBA. The complaint reads thus:

That you LANRE MABAWONKU Male, Adult, a legal Practitioner in Lagos on the 31st day of January, 2005 in a hand written agreement drawn up by you, you agreed to open a joint account in the name of your firm and one MR v. O. BAKARE, opened an account with GT Bank Alagomeji Branch, Lagos with account No: 219/820136(0) 1/1/0 and made a non-lawyer cosignatory to the said account and agreed to share your legal fees with the complainant who is not a lawyer, you thereby misconducted yourself in an infamous professional manner in breach of Rules 1,3 (1)c and 18(2) of the Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners 2007.
