AMADU SHAIDU V. THE STATE

JANE ESIENANWAN INYANG, J.C.A. (Delivering the Leading Judgment): This is an appeal against the judgment of High Court of Justice, Ondo State coram Olamide, J., in Charge No: AK/55C/2022, delivered on 24th March, 2023, wherein at the conclusion of trial and upon consideration of the legal arguments canvassed by Learned Counsel on record for the parties, the Appellant was found guilty, convicted and accordingly sentenced to death by hanging for the offence of murder of Ali Wakili on 6th January, 2022 at Zion Igbokoda, Akure contrary to Section 316 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37 Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006. 

Aggrieved with the decision of the Lower Court, the Appellant filed a Notice of Appeal on 24th March, 2023, and an Amended Notice of Appeal on 5th July, 2023, which was deemed as having been properly filed and served on 27th June, 2024.
