Judgement

HAMMA AKAWU BARKA, J.C.A. (Delivering the Leading Judgment): The instant appeal is against the decision of Y. A. Adesanya J. of the Lagos State High Court in suit No: ID/757/2007 between Mrs. Ndidi Adegbite and Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria Limited delivered on the 14th of October, 2012 wherein the trial Court partly granted the respondents claim.

The Background facts originating the instant appeal are rooted in the plaintiff's writ of summons and statement of claim dated and filed on the 15th of June, 2007 seeking for the following reliefs.

a. A declaration that the dismissal of the Claimant from the employment of the Defendant on or about the 3rd day of February, 2006 was discriminatory on the ground of the claimants sex and that she was a nursing mother and the same was wrongful and unconstitutional.

b. An order directing the defendant to pay damages to the claimant in the sum of N50,000,000.00 (fifty Million Naira).
