AN ACT to consolidate with amendments the enactments relating to Parliament.

Membership

1. Persons qualified for membership

(1)Subject to the Provisions of this section, a person shall be qualified to be elected as a Member if,(a)he is a citizen of Ghana, and(b)he has attained the age of twenty-five years, and(c)he is able both to speak and read the English language with a degree of proficiency sufficient to enable him to take an active part in the proceedings of the Assembly:Provided that a person who is unable to read by reason of blindness or other physical cause shall not for that reason only be treated as failing to satisfy the condition set out in paragraph (c) of this subsection.
