AN ACT of Parliament to provide for a comprehensive framework for the regulation of safe, secure and peaceful utilization of atomic energy and nuclear technology; the production and use of radiation sources and the management of radioactive waste; the repeal of the Radiation Protection Act and for connected purposes[Act No. 29 of 2019.]

Part I – – PRELIMINARY

1. Short title

This Act may be cited as the Nuclear Regulatory Act, 2019.

2. Interpretation

In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires —"activity" means the production, use, import and export of radiation sources for industrial, research and medical purposes; the transportation of radioactive material; the siting, construction, commissioning, operation, and decommissioning of facilities; radioactive waste management activities and site remediation;"app…
