An ACT to amend and consolidate the laws relating to deposit-taking; to regulate institutions which carry on deposit-taking business, and to provide for related matters.PASSED by Parliament and assented to by the President:

Preliminary Matters

1. Application of this Act

(1)This Act applies to
(a)banks,
(b)specialised deposit-taking institutions,
(c)financial holding companies, and
(d)affiliates of banks, specialised deposit-taking institutions and financial holding companies.
(2)This Act does not apply to credit unions which are subject to licensing and supervision under the Non-Bank Financial Institutions Act, 2008. (Act 774).

2. Application of Act 179

(1)This Act shall be read together with the Companies Act, 1963 (Act 179)…
