AN ACT to amend the Contracts Act, 1960 (Act 25) to provide for the type of interest to be paid on a sum of money due to a party to a contract or transaction entered into on behalf of the Republic.

1. Section 17 of Act 25 amended

The Contracts Act, 1960 (Act 25) is amended by the substitution for section 17, of"Contracts of the Republic17. (1) This Act applies to a contract or a transaction entered into on behalf of the Republic as it applies to any other contract or transaction.
(2)The following persons are authorized to enter into a contract or transaction on behalf of the Republic;
(a)a Minister responsible for a subject or department on a matter falling within the portfolio of the Minister;
