MUKHTAR JCA (Delivering the Lead Judgment): This is an appeal against theruling of the High Court of Lagos State(the lower court), delivered by Lufadejo, J. on 17 May 2005, refusing to set aside the registration of the judgment of the Civil Law Court, Sixth Judicial Circuit of Monrovia, Liberia (hereinafter referred to as “the foreign judgment.”) in suit No. CLD/05/01/ 2001-539, for the sum of US$768,950.00 (seven hundred and sixty-eight thousand, nine hundred and fifty dollars) in favour of the respondent, which the appellant applied to be set aside on the following two grounds:
i. That the registration was done outside the statutory period of twelve (12) months without extension of time, and
ii. That the Liberian court had no jurisdiction because there was no service of the court processes on the appellant.
