GEOFREY OLUSEGUN AKINDELE & ORS V. ECONOMIC AND FINANCIAL CRIMES COMMISSION

JOSEPH OLUBUNMI KAYODE OYEWOLE, JCA (Delivering the Leading Judgment): This is in respect of an appeal against the judgment of the Federal High Court, Abuja Judicial Division, sitting in Abuja delivered on the 13th May, 2024 by EGWUATU, J.

The Respondent approached the lower court via an ex parte originating motion wherein it sought the following reliefs:

1. An order of this Honorable Court forfeiting in the interim to the Federal Government of Nigeria the properties set out in the schedule to this application.

2. An order of this Honourable Court directing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to give fourteen (14) days notice via publication in any national daily to the Respondents or any person who may have interest in the properties contained in the schedule to this application to show cause why the properties listed in the schedule should not be finally forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
