JUDGMENT

AGBEVEY, J.

The parties who were married under customary and Islamic law, registered their marriage on the 14th day of December 2014 in Accra. After the marriageĀ  the parties co-habited at Community 18, Tema. The Petitioner is an Egyptian electric engineer and a trader. The Respondent, a Ghanaian is unemployed. The marriage did not produce an issue.Ā 

It is the Petitioner’s case that as a result of irreconcilable differences which impacted negatively on their lives, the parties in accordance with Islamic custom, met and dissolved the marriage. It is further his case that the parties have been living apart since the dissolution without any intention of getting back togetherĀ  to live as a couple. He averred further that all issues relating to financial provision in favour of the Respondent have been settled following the dissolution of the marriage and that the Respondent has acknowledged the receipt of the sumĀ  agreed.
