JUDGMENT

AGBEVEY, J.

Michael Kofi Quashie (hereinafter called the Petitioner) and Esi Sylvia Quashie (hereinafter called the Respondent) were married under the Marriage Ordinance (Cap 127) (1951 Rev.) on the 30th day of August 2001 at the Holy  Spirit Cathedral, Accra. Prior to this, the parties had contracted a marriage under Ewe Customary Law. 

The parties co-habited at Redco Flats, Madina, Baatsonaa and briefly  relocated to the United States of America (U.S.A). There are two issues of the  marriage, Delako Quashie and Kekeli Quashie who were seventeen (17) and  seven (7) years old respectively when the petition was filed on the 17th day of  December, 2014. It is the case of the petitioner that the Respondent was living in  the U.S.A for about seven (7) years after the marriage and he was visiting her  occasionally.

Per the Petition, the Respondent returned to Ghana in 2008 after declaring bankruptcy in the U.S.A. On her return the Respondent was in gainful  employment.
