IBRAHIM SHATA BDLIYA, J.C.A. (Delivering the Leading Judgment): This is an appeal against the judgment of the High Court of Justice, Kano State delivered by Hon. Justice A. R. D. MOHD on 7th March, 2014. The appellant was arraigned on three counts charge No. KN/55C/2013 for committing the offences of grievous hurt under Section 246, Abduction under Section 273 and rape under Section 283 of the Penal Code, respectively. The prosecution called five witnesses and tendered four Exhibits, as Exhibit A, B, C and D. The appellant entered his defence and called one witness who testified.

The prosecution and the defence filed written addresses which were adopted by the learned counsel accordingly. The lower Court delivered its judgment on 7th of March 2014, wherein the appellant was found guilty, convicted and sentenced to a term of 21 years, 5 years and 2 years with hard labour.
